Expanded Animation Lab
When we first started doing stop motion animation at Reed last year we were using a 700 MHz Apple and a video camera Mr. Rogers had swiped from his parents. Since then we have been able to add to our equipment a bit but a recent grant from the L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs is going to set us up real nice with some good materials to better meet the needs of our fledgling program. In conjunction with CBS Studios, the Department of Cultural Affairs has awarded the Reed Music & Visual Arts Departments with grants aimed at augmenting existing programs and establishing new programs to expand the reach of the arts at Reed.
For our purposes, the grant will help us to purchase much needed improvements in computers, cameras, and other technological paraphernalia. Most important, this grant will provide for the nuts n’ bolts materials necessary for stop motion animation: oil based clays, aluminum wire, epoxies, and hand tools. We are looking forward to putting the new lab together in the coming semester.
